Ministry of the Word: Fiery Love for God's Home
- The headline "Jesus cleanses the temple" softens the actual nature of what Jesus did.
- The reality is that what Jesus did would have been unthinkable at the time.
- From Jesus' perspective, what he saw in the temple was disgusting; it was an abomination. He was furious with what he saw. Animals and other items for offerings were being sold. Money was being changed.
- The temple was supposed to be a symbol of redemption.
- The sacrifices and offerings were instituted to teach the Israelites about their sins.
- Jesus was attempting to bring back the message and symbol of the temple.
