Ministry of the Word: The Command to Love the Church

  • The fourth commandment.
  • Why is it more appropriate to preach this in the morning? This sermon is about the necessity of worship. The fact of the matter is that many of the people that should hear this message will not be here this afternoon.
  • Sunday is a day of rest, dedicated to worship.
  • We praise God for the gift of salvation. We have been set free from slavery to sin.
  • Is it a sin to only go to church once? No. But it was Christ who gave the authority to the leaders of the church to call together the people for worship.
  • We must all repent for how each of us have failed in this regard. We all have shortcomings over how we worship God.
  • If you find yourself asking "what's the minimum amount of time I have to give to God" then your mind and your faith is not in the right place. If these are the kinds of questions you are asking then God is not your highest priority.
  • Rather than asking what we can "get away with" we should find ourselves asking "how many days until Sunday" each day of the week.
