Ministry of the Word: Christ our Mediator brings the LORD’s blessing to his church at war

1. God’s people are: Called to battle

  • When Moses raised his hand and staff, Israel would be winning the battle, but when his hand fell, so too did Israel.
  • The Amalekites did not fear the Israelites.
  • The Amalekites were cursed by God.

2. God’s people are: Under the Banner

  • God does not promise victory in every battle.
  • God does promise a path to salvation.
  • During the battle Moses was too weak to stand. He has to be helped. Moses was clearly not the saviour.
