Ministry of the Word: In our speaking to or about our neighbour we must always show love

1. Words have power

  • God created all that we see by speaking.
  • Jesus preached his message with words.
  • The words that we say to one another have power.
  • The way that we speak about our neighbours can influence how others treat them.

2. Words can abuse

  • Be careful what you say. You may not even realize the damage you cause.
  • Think before you speak.
  • Stop speaking if you think you are going to say something harmful.
  • Ultimately, the words we say will come back to us.
  • The silent treatment can harm psychologically.

3. Words may be redeemed

  • The power of the Bible is in the words it uses to spread God's message.
  • Jesus was called the Word.
