Ministry of the Word: The Spirit of Christ writes his law on our hearts

  • The 10 commandments are not a measuring stick.
  • Why does God preach his commandments so strictly? The commandments teach us what Godly goodness is.

1. He teaches us to trust in God alone

  • Trust in God alone is at the heart of all of the 10 commandments.
  • There is only one God. We believe that God created the entire universe and everything in it.
  • God is the source of all comfort and safety.
  • Coveting amounts to wanting something God hasn't given you. The act of coveting takes love that should be for God and focuses it on something else.
  • We can also covet health, safety, and comfort. Although it's important to purse health and life, focusing on it to the point where it hurts your relationship with God hurts your relationship with God.

2. And to love our neighbors
