Ministry of the Word: Christ washed his disciples' feet as an example of Christian love. Our Lord washed:

  • Why should I pick up someone else's garbage?
  • Why should I leave the church pew as clean or cleaner than when I arrived?
  • To show love for Jesus! The world will know you are a servant and follower of Christ when you have a similar attitude to Jesus.

1. His servants' feet

  • The sin of pride is what causes us to not clean up after others.
  • The disciples were embarrassed that Jesus wanted to wash their feet.
  • Peter wanted no part of embarrassing Christ.
  • Jesus showed Peter that if he was too proud and too hung up on social rules, that Peter could have no part in the Kingdom of Christ.
  • Peter then

2. His betrayer's feet

  • Jesus knew Judas would betray him, fulfilling the scriptures (note: but what of Matthew 19:28 that speak of the 12 disciples, including Judas, serving as judges over the 12 tribes of Israel?).
  • There was still time for Judas to choose the right path.

3. Your hearts

  • If you make something hard for other people in any way, you make it harder for them to accept Christ.
