Ministry of the Word: Join together in prayer that God’s people may be reunited and refreshed

1. The context

  • Paul wanted to travel to Rome. But the Christians in Jerusalem were in great need. Paul had collected money to help them, and he would be doing them a disservice if he did not bring the money to them quickly.

2. The call

  • Paul turns to prayer for help, and God hears him.
  • Paul is urged on to Jerusalem and then Corinth.
  • Paul did not receive the answer that he wanted; rather God answered Paul by telling Paul to do what God needed Paul to do.

3. The comfort

  • Paul's prayer did not give him the answer that he wanted.
  • The believers came from all over Rome to see Paul.
  • Paul ends with "May the God of peace be with you all"
