Ministry of the Word: The 3-Fold Office of Christ, Part 2: Our Only High Priest

• In the Old Testament access to God was only through the tabernacle, the ark of the covenant, or the temple. This access was difficult and at risk of being lost if the Israelites turned away from God.
• The people were not able to be perfectly faithful, and the priests were not able to do their work perfectly.
• At the time of the birth of Christ, even though the Israelites were back in the land the had been promised, they were under the rule of Rome, with no heir of David on the throne as King.
• The people needed not just a priest, but The Priest.
