  • Ministry of the Word: God's Superabounding Grace
    1. Man-made obstacles
    • For 10 years, Abram waited for a son. Then Sarai went to Abram and offered Abram her servent Hagar. There was maybe a bit of desperation here. We come to this story knowing how it ends, so it's really easy for us to judge.
    • Providence means God is taking care of us. But He does not do it on our agenda or our terms.
    • Abram sleeping with Hagar was a deviation from God's agenda. It immediately led to issues. Hagar felt elevated, and began to despise Sarai.
    1. God overcomes them
    • God dealt kindly with Hagar's descendants.
    • God deals kindly with all of us; even though we do not deserve it.
    • What a promise God has given us.
