  • Ministry of the Word: The LORD prepares Moses to lead his people to new life in Christ. God’s servant is:
    1. Beautiful in God's sight
    • God's plan was to bring salvation to the whole world through his chosen people.
    • The chosen people were not special apart from being chosen.
    1. Zealous for God's people
    • Moses was immersed in the Egyption culture but he did not forget or abandon his heritage. He figuratively floated above the waters.
    • Moses understood that he was being tempted, but he chose a life of mistreatment over a life of luxury and hedonism.
    1. Refined for God's service
    • Even when Israel was in Egypt, God was preparing to send his Son.
    • When it says that God "remembered his covenant" this is not to say that he had forgotten it, but that God was choosing this moment to begin the next part of his plan.
    • Suffering in Egypt was part of His plan.
